The Maker
Theis Lunden is a Danish-trained master furniture maker based in New York City. After completing his training at the Danish School of Furniture Making in Copenhagen — one of the most rigorous programs in the world — he established his workshop in Brooklyn, where he builds furniture by commission for private clients, collectors, and public spaces. His work is defined by structural honesty, restrained ornament, and a reverence for the material. Each piece begins with the wood itself.
Education
Trained at the Snedkerskolen (Danish School of Furniture Making) in Copenhagen, a five-year program covering traditional joinery, wood science, design theory, and furniture history. The program's lineage traces back to Kaare Klint, the father of modern Danish furniture design.
The Workshop
The workshop occupies 2,400 square feet in a converted industrial building in Gowanus, Brooklyn. The space houses a mix of traditional hand tools and precision machinery. All finishing is done by hand — no spray booths, no shortcuts.
